Talk about "taking home" all the winnings! After months of hard labour, teamwork and nervous anticipation, the Blue Team (Vernon and Krystle) are the official winners of My RONA Home!
The winners get to keep the $400,000 dream home they built, plus all the contents, including appliances and furniture.
Everybody wins! The Yellow Team(James and Nicola) goes home as winners, too! Before the winning team was revealed, Pierre L’Heureux, RONA’s Vice-President, Marketing, Image and Sponsorships, surprised the crowd by announcing that the runner-up would receive a precious cash gift from RONA towards the down payment on their home. As the runner-up Team, James and Nicola receive the cash gift, plus they get to keep all the contents of their home, including appliances and furniture.
My RONA Home and LEED
Both teams competing in My RONA Home are pursuing certification under the LEED Canada for Homes rating system, which promotes the design and construction of ecological homes. For more information visit the Candian Green Building Council website at www.cagbc.org.
According to the CaGBC, a LEED certified home uses less energy, water and natural resources; creates less waste; and is healthier and more comfortable for the occupants.
